McLaren has been working on the P1 successor for some time. Internally referred to as ‘P18’, McLaren’s new flagship hypercar is one of its best-kept secrets. With just a few weeks to go for the official unveiling, there have been absolutely zero leaks.
Sources tell us that a private preview will be held in the second half of September in London, with a public reveal expected in the first week of next month. While we wait for new information about the P1 successor, here’s what we know so far:
The McLaren P18 hypercar is expected to be powered by an all-new high-revving V8 engine. The internal combustion engine will be paired with a new hybrid system with technologies derived from Formula 1. The combined output could be around 1200 hp.
McLaren’s next-gen hypercar is also said to use several 3D-printed components. While the exact details of its design are still a mystery, it is likely to feature butterfly doors.
As you would be aware, McLaren built 375 examples of the P1. The production of the new model is expected to be capped at 399 cars. We’ve been told that the base price could be around £2.8 million, which is about $3.7 million.
