The Ford Mustang GTD is the most powerful Mustang ever made. To cement its position as one of the most extreme sports cars you can buy in America, Ford is gunning for a sub-7 minute Nurburgring lap time.
The Ford Performance team was at the track recently, preparing for a hot lap. However, the weather was not ideal, and the track conditions were suboptimal. With just 1 hour left before the track closed for the day, Ford decided to abandon the hot lap and use the remaining time to shoot some B-rolls instead.
The Mustang GTD is powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, which delivers 815 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The engine packs more horsepower per liter than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and revs to 7650 rpm. It uses active aero, much like its European counterpart, and is capable of reaching a top speed of 202 mph.
Although Ford was not able to set a lap time with the Mustang GTD this time, we can rest assured they will be back soon. Hopefully, if the conditions are better, we will see a stonking lap.
