Porsche CEO Michael Leiters has pushed back against reports that the German sports-car maker could face another major round of job cuts, telling employees that no additional reductions are currently planned.
Leiters was responding to a recent report which claimed Volkswagen’s supervisory board viewed around 4,100 more positions at Porsche as unnecessary. That would have come on top of roughly 9,000 job cuts already agreed by the company.
In an internal memo to staff, Leiters said the current restructuring programme has already been approved by Porsche’s supervisory board and that no changes are expected.
Porsche has previously agreed to around 9,000 job reductions through 2035. The measures include an initial package covering about 3,900 positions, another 500 linked to subsidiary closures and around 5,000 additional cuts through voluntary programmes.
