Two years ago, Winfrey revealed she used weight-loss medication as part of her ongoing health journey.

“I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing,” she told People in December 2023.

“The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for,” she continued.

“I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself.”

Prior to that, the TV personality had shaded the use of GLP-1 weight-loss drugs like Ozempic.

“When I first started hearing about the weight-loss drugs, at the same time I was going through knee surgery, and I felt, ‘I’ve got to do this on my own.’ Because if I take the drug, that’s the easy way out,” she explained during a September 2023 episode of “Oprah Daily’s The Life You Want: The State of Weight,” per People.

She also confessed that she felt pressure to turn to the popular prescription medications because she was “shamed in the tabloids every week for about 25 years” for lacking the “willpower” to shed weight.

“I had the biggest aha along with many people in that audience,” she later explained to People, recalling her statements on the drugs.

“I realized I’d been blaming myself all these years for being overweight, and I have a predisposition that no amount of willpower is going to control.”

She added, “Obesity is a disease. It’s not about willpower — it’s about the brain.”

Still, the talk show maven clarified that she’s embraced an all-around healthy lifestyle, including plenty of physical activity, to achieve her goals.

“It’s everything,” she said. “I know everybody thought I was on it, but I worked so damn hard. I know that if I’m not also working out and vigilant about all the other things, it doesn’t work for me.”
