Chinese Rolls-Royce-like sedan as long as Maybach S-Class could debut on Nov 5

Pre-production examples of BYD’s Yangwang Rolls-Royce-like flagship sedan, internally known as “Project HU”, have been spotted on transporters in China, reportedly ahead of shipments to the Middle East.

According to reports, BYD is targeting a Dubai debut around November 5. The date has not been officially confirmed, although Yangwang has confirmed that the UAE will host the sedan’s unveiling.

Project HU is expected to be a seriously large machine, with earlier reports suggesting a length of around 5,500mm and a wheelbase exceeding 3,350mm. That would put it in the same general size bracket as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

The Rolls-Royce-like prototype’s upright front end features a large grille and split headlights, while rear-hinged coach doors, a prominent C-pillar and dark rear windows add to its limousine character. A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor is also clearly visible.

Chinese reports suggest the sedan could cost more than 2 million yuan, or roughly $300,000. However, BYD has yet to reveal its official name, powertrain, battery technology or pricing.
