C9 Corvette “leak” turns out to be something else

There is a lot of chatter about the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette. While everyone believed the rumours, let’s set the record straight – that so-called C9 Corvette “leak” isn’t what it seems.

With the C8 nearing its end, especially with the arrival of the latest Grand Sport, anticipation around the C9 is huge. Naturally, even the smallest hint of what’s next gets enthusiasts talking.

Recently, a few images surfaced online claiming to reveal the upcoming Corvette’s design. The source? A brief glimpse from an NBC News video featuring General Motors CEO Mary Barra. In the clip, a screen inside GM’s design studio flashes what looks like a futuristic Corvette rendering. But it isn’t.

The car shown isn’t the C9 Corvette. It’s the Corvette CX Concept, first revealed during Monterey Car Week last year. Chevrolet has confirmed that the design seen in the video belongs to that concept and not the production-bound successor to the C8.

Sure, the CX could hint at the direction Chevrolet might take with the next Corvette. But as of now, the real C9 remains firmly under wraps.
