The BMW M2 CS has set a new lap record for compact cars around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The coupe went around the 12.9-mile racetrack in 7 min 25.5 seconds, beating the previous record by 8 seconds.
In April 2023, BMW M development engineer Jörg Weidinger set a lap time of 7 min 38.7 seconds in a BMW M2. Two years later, he beat his time by 13 seconds, breaking the class record of 7 min 30 seconds.
The BMW M2 CS was unveiled this year at Villa d’Este. The car is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine that produces 525 hp. It can sprint from 0-62 mph in just 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 188 mph.
