The Ford Mustang GTD recently became the first American car to lap the Nurburgring in under 7 mins. The automaker has now released the onboard video of the entire lap.
You can now ride onboard the Mustang GTD with Dirk Muller as he attacks corner after corner of the 12.9-mile circuit. In the end, Muller managed to complete a lap in 6 min 57.685 seconds – the fifth fastest time by a stock production car.
The Mustang GTD is the most powerful Mustang ever made. It uses a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that delivers 815 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Mustang GTD gets a semi-active suspension, with a pushrod setup at the front and a transaxle at the back. The air scoops on the sides are there to cool the transaxle and hydraulics. It also gets a bespoke aero package, including hydraulically controlled front flaps and an active rear spoiler.
