The next-generation Chevrolet Corvette is already in the works, and General Motors design studios have been tasked with coming up with a fresh new design language for the Corvette C9. One such design studio is located in the UK, and Top Gear recently got a sneak peek of one of the first concept Corvettes.
What you see here is a fresh take on what a future Corvette might look like. While this concept is designed to be a pure EV, GM will offer a V8 option on the C9 Corvette.
With that out of the way, let’s take a closer look at the styling. The C9 Corvette concept has a top half that has more classic proportions with a flat, sharp front fascia with heavily flared wheel arches on either side, a wraparound windscreen split in the centre and a short rear section with muscular wheel arches.
The lower half of the car has all the aero surfaces integrated into it. At the front are two massive rectangular vents with a wide tunnel channelling air to the rear diffuser. On the sides are additional vents forcing air towards the rear section.
The GM design studio in Los Angeles is also working on a future Corvette concept. The final version will include the best bits from the concepts designed by the UK and LA studios.
