John Carpenter has announced Anthology II (Movie Themes 1976-1988)which presents more classic pieces of synthesizer score from his peak era, including The Thing, Escape From New York, Halloween II & III, Assault on Precinct 13, They Live, Big Trouble in Little China and more. Like on the first Anthologythese have all been re-recorded and reworked by Carpenter and collaborators Cody Carpenter and daniel davies.
The album is out October 6 via Sacred Bones and we’ve got an exclusive variant of on “Escape” yellow and clear splatter vinyl that’s limited to 350 copies. You can preorder now and check out a mock-up of our variant and the tracklist below.

Along with the announcement, they’ve shared “March of the Pumpkins” from Halloween III. Carpenter says, “This piece was made for someone else’s movie, the Tommy Lee Wallace directed Halloween III. I don’t remember what his specific direction for me was for the main titles, but I wanted to reflect a kind of science fiction feel. The sound has been updated and it was fun to redo this song. The three of us using modern and updated sounds and production has influenced the overall feel of the song.” Listen below.
