Santo Domingo, “EL NUEVO DIARIO” For the first time, providers are ready to distribute school breakfasts and lunches to 1.9 million students, teachers, and staff starting Monday, August 28, reports the National Institute for Student Welfare (Inabie). The School Food Program (PAE) is the most important social policy implemented by the Dominican government.
In addition to these Monday through Friday recipients, prep students and support staff will also be available on weekends.
So far, the number of PAE beneficiaries is expected to exceed 2 million, and this figure will gradually be reached.
The executive director of Inabie, Víctor Castro, explained that the institution has taken all the necessary measures so that students of the national public education system receive PAE from the first day of classes.
UHT milk supply centers
Since last week, 2,067,180 portions of milk packaged with ultra-high temperature technology (UHT), a product that is easy to store and stable in storage, have been delivered to thousands of educational centers.
“The assignment of the PAE from the first day of school has been a triumph for everyone and is the result of good management decisions that we have made since last year, such as advance contracts with school breakfast and lunch providers, punctual payments. Castro emphasized that billing and advance payments for the school year will not suffer the usual delays due to lack of resources.
Another novelty of this school year is the expansion of the beneficiaries of the fruit project. The second phase will be gradually implemented in 67 centers distributed in the provinces of Santo Domingo, Valverde and Santiago, as well as schools and educational transfer centers of the Inabie-Fao project, and will benefit 35,000 students in the 2023-2023 school year. 2024.
It was recalled that PAE considered providing a school breakfast made up of liquid rations and nutritious breads or cookies prepared according to the institution’s exclusive recipe with the highest protein content to students from 6,177 educational centers authorized by the Ministry of Education. Education (Minard). The agency works on the development of new products to offer a greater variety of rations.
In addition, students of the Extended School Day (JEE), Rural PAE and Frontera modalities will enjoy a lunch according to a balanced menu and will meet the necessary requirements of a nutritious diet designed by nutrition experts from INABIE.
Each lunch contains protein, vegetables, and carbohydrates that are low in salt and fat.
In that sense, this Monday’s JEE menu will be white rice with dal stew, chili chicken fajita and cucumber salad.
The JEE school menu is published weekly on the Inabie web portal and social networks.
Inabie also delivered school supplies on time so that the 650,000 beneficiary students this year have what they need to attend class and take advantage of the bread of education.
