Estranged husband arrested in tragic death of California woman

The estranged husband of a missing Newport Beach woman whose body was found at the bottom of an embankment off a Southern California mountain road has been arrested in connection with her death.

Gordon Abas Goodarz, 66, was arrested Friday at his Rolling Hills residence after an investigation into the death of Aryan Papoli, 58, whose body was discovered 75 feet down an embankment in Crestline in November but not identified until weeks later.

San Bernardino County deputies provided an update on the case on Saturday, stating that the coroner determined Papoli’s manner of death to be a homicide after a “continued and diligent investigation.”
