Confirmed! BMW Skytop to see limited production of 50 units

The BMW Skytop concept was unveiled at the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in May. At the time, we were the first to report that the carmaker could produce the car in limited numbers. Well, BMW has now confirmed that it will build 50 examples of the Skytop for collectors and enthusiasts.

The 2024 BMW Concept Skytop is an open-top roadster that appears to be based on the 8 Series. It has a sleek, futuristic design featuring a more conventional kidney grille. The illuminated kidneys are flanked by slim LED headlamps. The long hood has vents with a prominent spine running along the centre. The car comes with two removable roof panels. The flared wheel arches neatly blend into the rear section, which features a set of slim LED taillights and a pair of oval exhausts.

The interior of the Concept Skytop looks similar to that of the 8 Series. It is wrapped in red leather. The floating buttress behind the cabin has the same matte red finish, which then blends into the rose gold exterior colour over the rear decklid.

The production-spec BMW Skytop will be powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 625 hp. It will be paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system. BMW claims the 2-door will be capable of sprinting from 0-62 mph in 3.3 seconds.
