2024 BMW 4 Series Models and Trims

The 2024 BMW 4 Series comes in three trims: 430i, M440i and the high-performance M4. The main distinction is powertrain, which we detail below. There are also coupe, convertible, and four-door hatchback Gran Coupe body styles, and both rear- and all-wheel drive are available.

BMW also makes the all-electric i4, which is reviewed separately.

The 430i Gran Coupe starts at $47,600, the 430i coupe starts at $49,100, and the 430i convertible retails for $57,200. The 430i comes standard with a 255-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. You can add xDrive all-wheel drive for $2,000.

Standard features in the 430i include synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, driver’s seat memory settings, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, a 10-speaker stereo, navigation, two USB ports, Bluetooth, remote start, proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a universal garage door opener, a moonroof and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, driver-attention monitoring, traffic-sign recognition, automatic high-beam headlights, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

The Convenience package ($750 or $850) adds heated front seats (Gran Coupe only), wireless device charging and a driver’s seat with four-way power lumbar adjustments. The Premium package ($1,800 or $2,100) includes the Convenience features as well as a head-up display and a heated steering wheel. You can also add heated rear seats with this package.

The Driving Assistance Professional package ($1,700) comes with stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, emergency stop assist and evasive-steering assist. The Parking Assistance package ($700) features a surround-view parking camera system, park assist and reverse automatic emergency braking.

The Dynamic Handling package ($2,000) adds M Sport brakes, high-performance tires, an adaptive M suspension and an M Sport differential.

Individual options include genuine leather upholstery ($1,500), a synthetic leather-wrapped dashboard ($350), ventilated front seats ($350 to $500), upgraded LED adaptive headlights ($1,000), a Wi-Fi hot spot ($300) and a Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo ($875).

The M440i features a 382-horsepower turbocharged six-cylinder engine, variable sport steering, more aggressive exterior styling and an M Sport differential, brakes and suspension. The M440i Gran Coupe has a starting MSRP of $60,150, the M440i coupe is $60,550, and the M440i convertible is $68,550. As with the coupe, rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is optional for $2,000.

The Cooling and High Performance Tire package ($2,400) adds upgraded engine cooling, high-performance tires and an adaptive M suspension. The Cooling package isn’t available with the convertible.

BMW M4

The M4 boasts a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine with 473 horsepower (503 horsepower for M4 Competition models), as well as additional chassis bracing, unique interior and exterior accents, a limited-slip rear differential, an adaptive suspension, a quicker steering ratio, a sport exhaust, a carbon-fiber roof, Merino leather upholstery, heated front M Sport seats and a Harman Kardon stereo.

Optional add-ons exclusive to the M4 include carbon-fiber front seats, carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon-fiber exterior accents and a performance data recorder.

Prices for the M4 start at $77,000 for the rear-wheel-drive coupe; the RWD M4 Competition coupe is $80,940, with all-wheel drive costing another $4,000. The M4 Competition xDrive Convertible retails for $91,940.
