Exclusive! Audi Nuvolari is more Lamborghini than you’d think

Audi just revealed its first hybrid supercar, the Nuvolari. It came as a surprise to us, as we were expecting to see the next-gen R8 in concept form. Instead, we got a futuristic-looking limited-edition supercar powered by a V8 hybrid from the Lamborghini Temerario. However, the similarities between the Nuvolari and Temerario don’t end at that.

Unlike the R8, which shared components with the Gallardo and its successor, the Huracan, Audi did not just raid Lamborghini’s parts bin to create the Nuvolari. The collaboration went much deeper this time around. In fact, it’s more Italian than you’d think.

Well-placed sources have revealed to us the true extent of Sant’Agata’s involvement in the project. We’ve been told that the Nuvolari was developed by Lamborghini. It is even built on the same production line as the Temerario.

Naturally, the two share a lot of common parts. The chassis and engine, along with all the hybrid components, are borrowed from the baby Lambo. It has the exact same gearbox and steering. Even the seats and infotainment system have been carried over.

The Audi Nuvolari is essentially a rebodied Temerario with slight setup changes. But we’re not complaining, as the car looks absolutely magnificent, and we’re glad they are only making 499 units.
