The Post has been granted unprecedented access to the world of the Giants’ scouting department. In Part 7 of this continuing series, we meet Hannah Burnett, one of the NFL’s handful of female area scouts. She is in her sixth year with the Giants after previously working for the Bills and Falcons. A former varsity athlete at UMass and Huntington High School on Long Island, Burnett, 30, is single and lives in Denver.
GM Joe Schoen on Burnett: “I did not know Hannah before I took the job, and she quickly made a positive impression on me from the day I arrived. Super detailed, good evaluator, really good creating relationships at schools. It’s pretty rare to have a female scout. I’ll just say we don’t even look at that. She’s one of us. When she talks, we listen. When you go into schools or I go to a game and people come up to me and tell me how great she is and how good of a job she does, a lot of times that tells you about your scouts, and she is one of the most complimented scouts on our staff.
Q: As the Giants’ Midlands-area scout, what are the states you cover?
A: Washington, Utah, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota. I cover parts of Iowa, and then I have Kansas and Nebraska as well.
